The Muscle Map Front

Hi, welcome to the Natural Bodybuilder's Bible.  I have enjoyed weighlifting since as long as I can remember.  I inherited the love from my father who had been an amateur bodybuilder since the 1950s.  His love for exercise inspired him to build a gym on top of his garage.  As a nine year old I used to enjoy playing around in his gym with all the equipment bought from Harrods.  On Christmas Eve 1992 I did my first proper workout as a teenager and made incredibly quick gains.  I was not only stronger and more muscular but felt more relaxed and happier.  So I created a routine gaining many ideas from the numerous muscle magazines that were available.  It wasn't until 1998 when I went to a bodybuilding seminar that I realised that the training routines in the muscle magazines were not designed for natural bodybuilders.  The main guest at the seminar was a professional bodybuilder who was questioned endlessly about his drug use.  I could feel his embarrassment  with each answer.  He told the audience that he had tried as a natural for years and consumed every supplement that he could get his hands on but had not got the size of the people he idolised in the magazines.   The fact that this gentleman was not even high enough up the ranks to compete in the Mr Olympia and had been taking drugs for years made me realise that I needed a realistic goal for my own training.  Not one that copied the drug takers but one that lead to a naturally good physique, good health and longevity.   Now more than twenty years since my 1992 start I feel I know natural bodybuilding very well.  All this time I have been going to the gym three times a week, and learning something each time.  I want to share my knowledge and experience with you and show how to develop an enriching lifestyle that leads to bodybuilding longevity, life-long fitness and well being.

Happy lifting!

By the way - here is me in 2018 on holiday in Montenegro - age 45!  If I was on social media I wonder if anyone would be questioning whether I was a natty?  Well I am and the reason for the muscle is simple - I have done thousands and thousands of chin ups!!
